THE BLUE WHALE GIVE BACK PLAN
Restoring Pride of Place to the City of Doncaster
In Doncaster, we are seeing a historic shift. Millions of pounds in government funding are flowing into our city to improve infrastructure, high streets, and public spaces. This “Pride of Place” agenda is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make our home shine. But there is a problem: many of the buildings that actually hold our community together—our charities, youth clubs, and volunteer hubs—are being left behind.
The Maintenance Gap in Our Community
While new glass-fronted offices and paved town centres look fantastic, the local charity shop on the corner or the community centre in the heart of a housing estate often look weathered, stained, and forgotten. These organisations do incredible work, but they rarely have the budget for specialist exterior maintenance. Moss-covered walkways, algae- stained cladding, and soot-blackened brickwork don’t just look bad – they send a message that these spaces aren’t valued.
At Blue Whale SWS (a Lex Hygiene brand), we decided that wasn’t good enough. If the public sector can’t reach every corner of Doncaster, the private sector needs to step up.
The 10% Profit Pledge
We have launched the Blue Whale Give Back Plan. Our mission is simple: 10% of the net profit from every commercial contract we sign is moved into a dedicated Community Fund. This fund exists for one reason: to provide 100% free, professional exterior restoration for Doncaster’s charitable and voluntary sectors.
Why This Matters for Doncaster Businesses
If you are a Facility Manager, a Business Owner, or a Site Director in Doncaster, you already spend money on building maintenance. You have to. Dirty cladding, slippery walkways, and stained brickwork are a liability and a bad look for your brand. Usually, you pay a contractor, they do the job, and the money disappears into their bank account. When you hire Blue Whale SWS, your maintenance budget works twice as hard. You get the highest-spec industrial clean available, and you simultaneously fund the restoration of a local community hub.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) That People Can Actually See
We don’t just do the work and hide the results. We want the whole city to know that your business made the community clean possible. For every “Give Back” project we complete, we produce a “Social Value Report” and a public PR campaign. We tag our contributing commercial clients, showing the public and local government that your company is directly responsible for restoring “Pride of Place” in Doncaster.
“The Blue Whale Give Back Plan is a fantastic example of a local business taking the
lead on ‘Pride of Place’ by investing their skills back into the community hubs that
need them most.”
— Lee Pitcher, MP for Doncaster East and the Isle of Axholme
“Vibrant, well-maintained community spaces are essential for the wellbeing of our
residents. I welcome this commitment from Blue Whale SWS to ensure our local
charities have premises they can be proud of.”
— Sally Jameson, MP for Doncaster Central
Specialist Cleaning with a Purpose
We aren’t just “washing windows.” Blue Whale SWS uses industry-leading technology to deliver transformative results. Our services include:
- Steam Cleaning (DOFF System): Safely removing paint, biological growth, and carbon staining from heritage brick and stone without chemicals.
- Soft-Washing: A low-pressure treatment that kills algae and lichen at the root, keeping surfaces clean for up to four times longer than traditional pressure washing.
- Cladding Restoration: Bringing industrial units and office blocks back to their original “day-one” colour.
- Safety Walkway Treatment: Removing slip hazards from communal entrances to protect the elderly and vulnerable.
Are You a Local Charity or Community Group?
We are looking for our next “Hero Project.” If you run a registered charity, a community hub, a youth centre, or a volunteer-led organisation in Doncaster, we want to hear from you. If your building looks tired, weathered, or uninviting, we want to help.
How to apply: Fill out the nomination form on this page. Tell us about your organisation, the building you occupy, and how a professional exterior refresh would help you serve your community better. Our “Give Back” fund is limited by the commercial work we do, so we prioritise projects with the highest community impact.
